Auro (Amitabh Bhachchan), a 13 year old kid with a genetic disorder Progeria, lives with his single mom (Vidya Balan) and granny (Arundathi nag). Amol Arte (Abhished Bachchan) is an ambitious young politician. Amol Arte meets Auro at his school where he comes as a chief guest to judge a competition. Ofcourse, Auro wins the first prize in the competition. Back home, when Vidya learns this episode, she realizes the politician is none other than her estranged boyfriend and father of Auro. Vidya and Amol had met each other abroad during their college days, after a brief courtship, Vidya gets pregnant. Amol askes her to abort since the child may jeopardize their career. Vidya leaves Amol citing she and the kid will not play spoilsport to his ambitions. 12 years back destiny brings Vidya, Amol and Auro back together. In the climax, Amol comes to know that Auro is none other than his son. It is too late by then as Auro is in his deathbed. He unites his parents before his last breathe.
I expected a lot from Balki judging by his previous movie “Cheeni Kum” but expectations kills. The script is dragging, the portions involving Abhishek as politicians makes you yawn. Hello, this is not a political movie we came to watch. Unfortunately, the story neither emphasize on the theme of progeria nor fully on Auro. At the end, Auro is reduced to just one character in a movie that does not have an original story to boast. The director has touched on too many things that leave you irritated and bored at times. Only saving grace is Amitabh Bhachchan and his funny dialogues in between. Amir Khan’s “Taare Zameen Par” brilliantly dealt with the subject of dyslexia where as Balki had made a mess over here.
Amitabh’s performance is commendable. Unfortunately Bollywood milks his acting skills and energy but wastes it with bad scripts. Oh yes, I liked Vidya balan’s blouses too.
Illayaraja’s song does not appeal on screen. “Udhi udhi” is great to hear but the cut effect editing of the song is unpleasant for eyes.
GingerChai Verdict: Wonderful performance by AB Sr wasted by bad script.

thanks for the in depth review
And I was looking forward for watching this movie thinking it would be one step ahead of Taare Zameen Par..*sigh*
Nevertheless I will still watch it,for AB Sr.
shilpa
A damper! Anyways aren’t some of the songs illayaraja’s tamil hits, this time from the movie Anjali… sounds familiar… like the Cheeni kum song which was from some old movie
I appreciate the spirit with which the film has been made even though the political part could have been dealt with more sensibility. But, definitely It is refreshingly different from the run of the mill pictures with gory blood, murders, kisses, crude comedy and dazzling dances. Delhi never looked so beautiful. The credit must go to C. Sriram.
Balki deserves a pat on his back for this film.
