Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani – review
Direction: Rajkumar Santoshi
Produced by: Ramesh S Taurani
Starring: Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Upen Patel
APKGK is a light hearted romantic -comedy that banks heavily on the chemistry (& physics ?!) between the lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
Prem Shankar Sharma (Ranbir Kapoor) is a school drop-out living care-free in a small hill town. He and his friends runs a “Happy club” and Prem is the president of it. Needless to say, except for idling away time they don’t do anything constructive in the club no members other than the friends. His father chides him for his irresponsible life. Enter Jennifer (Katrina Kaif) to the town. Its a love at first sight for Prem. But he is too shy to disclose his love. Jenny’s parents fix a match for her to a wealthy guy. She is taken to Goa. Prem & Co kidnaps her from Goa. Meanwhile, Jenny tells Prem about her boyfriend Rahul (Upen Patel), son of a rich politician. Rahul’s father is against him marrying Jenny. Enter a mad don. The climax is a kichidi of mad comedy and finally Prem and Jenny marries.
You are not supposed to apply any logic or seriousness while watching the movie but still the shut-the-brain-and-just-watch-laugh comedy is only partially enjoyable. The screen chemistry between the lead couple is what holds the movie throughout. Ranbir and Katz makes a perfect reel jodi ! Ranbir is sure to capture the college crowd with his funny acts and moves. His dance moves in the ball-room is especially adorable and hilarious! The songs are good. Acting is in his blood and he definitely makes the Kapoor clan proud. Oh ! Even Salman Khan makes a 3 minute special appearance as actor Salman Khan himself.
GingerChai Verdict: A time-pass movie.
