OUR DESTINATION. HARSIL. A BEAUTIFULLY CONVENIENT STOPOVER EN ROUTE TO GANGOTRI. EASY TO MISS FROM THE HIGHWAY AS CAN BE SEEN…

IT’S A SETTLEMENT OR A CANTONMENT AREA JUST 44 KM RETURN JOURNEY FROM GANGOTRI AND 74 KM FROM UTTARKASHI

THE ENTRY TO HARSIL.
THERES IS A GMVN HOTEL AND ALSO SOME PRIVATE ONES. YOU CAN BOOK YOUR ROOMS EASILY THROUGH THE NET. MANY WEBSITES AND FORUMS WILL PROVIDE YOU ALL THE NECESSARY AND BASIC INFORMATION YOU WANT.
HERE I AM JUST PRESENTING TO YOU THE ROUTE THROUGH MY EYES. AND OF COURSE HARSIL IS MUCH MORE THAN THESE.

SUNSET NEAR CHAMBA…

CHAMBA TO THE FAMOUSLY DISPUTED TEHRI DAM…

TEHRI DAM

FLORA AND FAUNA…

ENROUTE TO UTTARKASHI…

ROAD CONDITION DETERIORATES AFTER UTTARKSHI BUT TAKE IT WITH A PINCH OF SALT AND LOADS OF CONCENTRATION…

FOREST FIRE. AN EVIRONMENTAL ISSUE…

AFTER THE FIRE, COMES THE WATER. A MOUNTAIN BROOK

PICTURE PERFECT SCENERIES…

FINALLY HARSIL.
AFTER A LONG AND TIRING BUT A BREATHTAKING DRIVE. WELL ACTUALLY THE ALTITUDE MAYBE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR FOR THE FEELING OF BREATHLESSNESS…

A MEADOW NEAR HARSIL…

NATURE AND ITS STRANGE FORMATIONS

THE BRIDGE WHERE THE GHOST OF THE LEGEND PAHARI WILSON RIDE AT NIGHT

THE ROAD ONWARDS TO GANGOTRI

I have been reading about Frederick ‘Pahari’ Wilson and your beautiful photographs of the area in which he lived bring his story to life. What a lucky man he was to live in such beautiful surroundings. I hope it stays unspoilt.
Thank you for publishing these wonderful photographs.
