Feel Like a Woman

It’s Saturday afternoon. After a hectic week in classes and tests there is a respite for two days. She shampoos her hair, dries it.

Gets ready… Wears the pale pink flowing dress… Some lipstick…Some perfume….

5’0 clock at the watch… time for him to arrive at any moment… for her first date… she glances at the mirror and blushes. She feels like a woman

Her mother is ill… terminally.

Lying on the bed her mother is watching her…From morning to night she watches her daughter…

Cooking…Washing… Studying…

Taking care of her younger sister, father…giving her medicines in time…never complaining.

She silently watches her…" my daughter has grown up… see, she has become a woman" and her eyes well up with tears of happiness and pride.

She has had a break up with her lover just 3 months back…

For one month she was a wreck…now stable….

She smiles…She talks…She works…. but the scars are still fresh…

The pain is still there…written all over her face…even when she smiles…though she has emerged stronger. She looks soft, beautiful and vulnerable yet with a power within… she looks like a real woman.

The duty hours are harsh…but she slogs on…

She feels like taking a break and asking her male colleague to help her out…

She starts towards him…two steps…she feels guilty…

Five steps…she feels ashamed…Eight steps…she regrets coming….. Twelve steps…she takes a deep breath…"what is the latest status of the patient of bed 13? Just came to take the file”…She takes the file and walks back to her post… "Now that is some woman" he thinks to himself and smiles admiringly.

It’s the first day after her marriage…

Fresh out after the bath, she sits beside her husband….a shy smile on her face…happy contented… a smile that is looking forward to a new and beautiful future…a smile promising love, abounding, unconditional….her husband holds her hand. he looks deeply at her…” she is the woman of my dreams"…

The cry of a newborn…

She lies exhausted and calm…after the pain…”I m dead and this is heaven" she thinks drowsily…she slightly raises her head and looks at her little angel…

She feels complete…A complete woman
