The typical Macho Indian movie hero is back. A hero who can single handedly bash 20-50 people without even a scratch, a hero who romances, fights and presents a larger than life image makes a return to Bollywood. “Wanted” is the remake of blockbuster south Indian movie “Pokiri” (made in Telugu and Tamil)
“Wanted” is an out and right 100% typical masala movie, brewed perfectly for the masses. The action, songs, comedy, drama, sentiments, love everything mixed well and in right proportion.
Salman plays the character of Radhe. He comes as a hard core, fearless gangster. He claims to work only for “money bhai” and loyal for whoever hires him. Eventually, he works for the dreaded underworld don, Gani Bhai (played by Prakash Raj). He eliminates with brutal ease all the rival gang members. In between, hunting rival gangsters he romances Ayesha Takia. Mahesh Manjrekar plays the role of Inspector Talpade, a baddie in the uniform who lusts Ayesha. After plentiful dose of romance, duets, fights and killings the climax reveals the real identity of Salman.
The highlight of the movie is the action scenes. Every 10 minutes (or is it less than that?) you find the hero in action. The action scenes are stylish, packs punches and bullets.
Ayesha Takia is passable does not make an exciting pair to Salman Khan. Prakash Raj is enjoyable as underworld don in his trademark villainy characterization that we have seen in many South Indian films.
For a change, the comedy is not crap and vulgar, a refreshing change compared to few of the recent releases.
The music by Sajid-Wajid is just average. I could not recollect any of the songs once they got over. Anil Kapoor, Govinda and Prabhu Deva make a 30 seconds appearance in the “Jalwa” song.
After a series of dud movies, Salman could regain a bit of lost ground through this movie. Somehow, I found him bit inflexible in couple of scenes nevertheless this movie should give him bit of confidence again.
GingerChai verdict: 100% masala, time pass movie. You can watch it once. If you had seen the South Indian version earlier, you might find it a tad boring.

Nice post. First time here. They have started to release the Tamil movies here in the San Francisco Bay Area the same day it is released in India. 90% of the movies can be classified into 2 categories. First the triangle love. From your name, I assume you know Tamil. We used to make fun of triangle love as “vannanukku vannathi mela aasai…vannathiku kazhudhai mela aasai” (Washerman-dhobi-loves the washerwoman but washerwoman loves the donkey). Second, a poor lone guy comes and fights an all powerful dada and at the end defeats him and marries his daugher/sister. As long as we don’t go into the logic, we can watch one time for entertainment.
Hi SG ! Welcome to GingerChai ! ha ha you are right ! Even I love many Indian movies , even though they may defy logic , even though at times(rather I should say most times) they have very predictive story lines… they do make a good one time time pass entertainment !
Hope to see you frequently here to sip GingerChai !
“10 minute-ly” action scenes!
Apparently, there has been some statistical analysis of the “Rambo” movies — the latest one has a person dying every 3.xyz minutes or something!
Is that computer game or movie ?
