Dastkar is a society for crafts and craftspeople . Its an umbrella organization that brings artisans of different parts of India under one roof to enable them to sell directly to the public avoiding middlemen. They conduct exhibition cum sales in various cities and give a boost to the exposure , sales and working dynamics of the traditional crafts in this modern age.

Dastkar exhibition titled “The Nature Bazaar” is happening in palace grounds , Bangalore. I visited the stalls yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Last time when they had exhibition here , my wife had picked quiet a few colorful decorative pieces. The exhibition is a visual treat with its colorful atmosphere and vibrant designs in various forms.

I visited the society’s main website. It has a lot of interesting info. I love it!
I have visited the dastkar melas held here in Delhi. Its a visual treat as one can see the local art come alive there. We should encourage local arts and crafts by buying and promoting their products else it would die a silent death. Am glad you wrote a post on it.
