Will the ball be bowled or not ? - A million dollar question answered today. The show will go on but not in India. A nation renowned for outsourcing service shall outsource the most successful , cash rich and entertaining cricket tournament to either England or South Africa !
After weeks of inconclusive talks and dilly dallying , finally lalit modi had his final say – the show will go on , on time despite all the political glitches and demanding security needs.
Cricket is no more a leisurely gentleman’s game. After the attack on Srilanka team in Pakistan , it has become a nightmare for security people. Well , India is no Afghanistan or Pakistan. Still , when we have the world’s largest election coming up in the same months of IPL. The election is scheduled for one long month spanning 5 phases and 750 million voters are going to cast their vote. The election in itself is not a simple affair with lots of security and logistics demands. Add to that , we have mad blood hungry terrorist psychos across the border with the blessings of certain group of establishment there. Amidst this all , enter the dirty politics and egos into the scene.
Lalit modi would have got the nightmare of his life sorting out the schedule for the tournament in the election season. All his rescheduled timetables were rejected by the state government , while the centre government refused to provide extra security forces. More over , it was practically impossible to postpone the league considering the jam packed international cricket schedule hindering the overseas player participation.
So when everyone thought the IPL is no show for this year and with lots of money in stake , BCCI and Lalit modi came up with a master stroke that I bet none of the rival politicians who must be baying for his failure would have expected.
The show will go on but in another country.
IPL shall go ahead as per schedule in venues in country yet to be decided but probably England or South Africa.
Well , this is my blog and so my opinion matters here . So what do I think about Indian Premier league being held in a foreign country ? I would have definitely be happy to see the mega event of cricket in the land where cricket is almost a religion . Having said that , Election is a the blood and soul of a democratic country and no event can precede its importance , so considering the time we live in and the unprecedented security needs and pressures , I don’t think its wise enough to schedule both the events at a same time.
So let IPL take an international color for this year. Lets welcome the decision , its always great to have a show going on than a non show , agree with me ?

Its sheer failure of Union Home Ministry to be not able to hold IPL in India. That too on security grounds. They have put Pak and India on same bracket. Here was an opportunity to showcase our ‘might’ which have fallen prey to bloody, filthy politics. As a cricket fan and an Indian, my govt. have ashamed me.
Well , I would have been proud if the government had the guts and strategy to stage both the mega events but then we have a spineless government and taking in account the seriousnes and impact it would have , if anything unwanted happens , i think its for good that both the events are not happening in India at same time …
