The cityscape of our Indian cities are fast changing . Some are good , some are bad. Nevertheless , Change is inevitable.
So one particular visible change is in how the bus shelters have changed from once a roofless shelter to a modest tin sheet shelter to now glitzy bus shelters.
Some find it giving a snazzy look to our city roads . They are brightly lit , shouts various advertisements selling insurance to cokes . The installation and maintenance have been given to private players and biggies have jumped into fray . People may argue it gives revenue to the city corporation. Fine , but what is the inside story ?
Lets see the underbelly of these beautiful thingies .
50 odd Tube lights is what this bus shelters hides inside them to give those snazzy look !!! 50 ! can you believe it ?! And many and many of such bus shelters are dotting Bangalore city now and many under construction . So just do your own mathematics .
When the state is reeling under power shortage , Do we really need such bus shelters ? They could have tried solar lighting for bus shelters or LED lights that would have saved some precious conventional watts . If someone talks about global warming blah blah … shut up . What is in watts ? We all love glitzy cityscape even if thousands of villages are yet to seen a bulb in their household .
