Yesterday my wife and me had a small tiff.

we had argument.

we got mood off.

she cried. I cried. Both went to office with a sad face and heart. Then we smsd each other and I met her in noon and later the day she smsd asking shall we go out tonite for dinner ? So nite I picked her . Till then we have not decided on the restaurant. We drove around to spot a restaurant which appeals us and we stopped at this place called Degchi.

Degchi is located on banaswadi main road. Its on the first floor diagonally opposite to More department store. From outside I didn’t expect much but a small time restaurant. Once we entered , I was surprised by their simple but neatly done elegant ambience. It has two kind of seating area. One with a cane chair and table and another with low lying kind for extra relaxed dining experience ! We chose the chair area. May be next time , we will chose the ultra relaxed mode !

The menu was punjabi and they have both vegetarian and non vegetarian . We being veggies , restricted ourselves to our domain.  I left my wiffy do the menu selection. She opted for bharwan Aloo to start with and continued with Paneer Pasanda and Roti Ki Tokri / Roti basket which included 2 Rotis , 2 naans , 1 Lachaa paratha and 1 butter kulcha.

Bharwan Aloo was awesome ! Awesome is not the word , it was amazing ! It had packed the right punch of taste !!! We relished it and I still cherish the taste ! After having bharwan Aloo , Roti ki Tokri was quiet too much for us to finish and also since we had a sad heart since morning propably couldnt eat much !!! Paneer pasanda was little bland for my taste bud. Roti basket was fine. Not too good but not bad. Well , I was floored by bharwan aloo that only that taste lingers in me. Its worth visiting here atleast for it ! Neverthless , we decided to drop in again this sunday morning to try their Amristrari chole . Would update more on this pleasant little nice gastronomically appealing restaurant again after my second visit.

Little titbits :

I was wondering what degchi actually means. so my google search revealed me the following .

Definition: A Degchi is one of the most commonly used utensils in an Indian kitchen. Basically a deep, round saucepan without handles, it is used to cook curries, stir-fry vegetables, boil rice and make rice dishes like Biryani. A Degchi is usually made from stainless steel, aluminium or brass and has a thick bottom to prevent food from burning and to ensure even distribution of heat while cooking. These days it is also available in non-stick coated versions! A Degchi usually has a wide lip/ rim around its top edge to make it easy to carry and also to help pour things from it without spilling them.
